[1] Workshop Objectives & Agenda

The objectives for the event were:

1. To share understanding of sustainable funding.

2. To explore how providers evidence their value.

3. To share notable practice on the benefits of PCC funding, from a providers perspective.

4. To develop collaborative links between organisations.

[2] Presentations

Presentations from the Winsford Workshop are available as PDF documents below.

The event was split into two

  • prior to the 11.15am break there was a brief scene-setting presentation, followed by 'cafe conversation' groupwork, exploring three elements of funding/income: the challenges / barriers people face; the opportunities they foresee; and the support that will help them overcome barriers and link them to more funding opportunities.
  • after the break, and prior to the network lunch, there were 5 presentations: three from OPCC funded hate crime services, one from a rape and sexual abuse support service, and finally a presentation on behalf of the local VCS infrastructure organisations.

PRE-BREAK SESSION (10am - 11.15)

PRESENTATION 1: 'Setting the scene'
Rainbow Langdale-Smith (Cheshire OPCC) provided the introduction / welcome, and then Michael Lloyd (from MLR) outlined the event format, context and a few of the funding principles to be discussed during the day.

'Cafe conversation' Groupwork: The workshop attendees were split across three tables and asked to discuss 3 questions on funding - rotating between tables every 15 minutes as a new question was revealed.

Everyone was asked to note down key points on colour-coded post-it notes, and at the end of the 15 minute discussion period each attendee was asked to summarise on one card a key point for them on that question.

The post-its formed our 'ideas tree' (pictured) and the summary cards the basis of a report.
